From Demand Review to Production Sequence

Power BI can show you the error, but Claude can help turn it into the questions the planner needs on the table. That is where a lot of planning meetings quietly lose momentum. A variance table can tell you actual demand moved away from forecast. It can show the product family, the order movement, the customer pullback, or the promotion that behaved differently than expected. But the factory still needs the next layer. Which family is exposed? Which material check changed? Which line is now tighter? Which customer promise are we protecting? Which sequence creates the least unnecessary changeover? This is where Claude becomes useful if we stop treating it like a summarizer and start using it to build the first draft of the operating artifact. Give it the actual planning context: forecast vs actual by product family, open orders, current production plan, frozen window, line constraints, changeover rules, material status, service priority, and planner comments. Then ask Claude for a demand-to-sequence board. The useful output is not a generic paragraph. It is a meeting artifact: - what demand miss matters - which root cause looks most likely - which family, line, or customer promise is affected - which material, capacity, service, or changeover check moved - which 2-3 sequence options are worth discussing This is the capability that makes Claude shine. It can take scattered planning inputs and turn them into a structured board that the planner can challenge, improve, and use to focus the conversation. For me, that is a much stronger AI use case than asking for another dashboard summary. The value is the team starting the meeting with the miss, the assumption, the affected family, the constraint check, and the sequence options already visible.
